Adam Sandler Heist Movie Gets First Details

Golden Globe nominee Adam Sandler is reportedly teaming up with The Batman producer Dylan Clark for his potential next Netflix movie titled, They Were Just Nice People. The project is still in the early stages of development, with the producers currently searching for a writer.

What is Adam Sandler’s heist movie about?

Described as an art heist comedy movie, They Were Just Nice People is expected to follow the story of a married couple, who are school teachers by day and art thieves by night. Sandler will be producing through his Happy Madison banner, along with Clark for Dylan Clark Productions. Brian Williams has been tapped to oversee the project for Dylan Clark Productions, while Netflix executive Jason Young will be overseeing for the streamer.

At the moment, Sandler is attached to star in two high-profile movies for Netflix, which are both slated to debut this year. The first one is the long-awaited Happy Gilmore 2, which will see Sandler reprising one of his most iconic roles ever. Set to premiere on July 25, the movie will also feature returning cast members from the 1996 sports comedy movie, including Julie Bowen as Virginia Venit, Christopher McDonald as Shooter McGavin, and Ben Stiller as Hal. They will be joined by new characters, portrayed by Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio (Bad Bunny), Sadie Sandler, Sunny Sandler, Conor Sherry, Ethan Cutkosky, Philip Fine Schneider, Maxwell Jacob Friedman, Travis Kelce, and Blake Clark.

Besides Happy Gilmore, he will also next be seen in Oscar-winning filmmaker Noah Baumbach’s newest coming-of-age dramedy Jay Kelly, which will star George Clooney and Laura Dern. Further details about its plot and characters are still being kept under wraps. Produced by Netflix, the movie is currently slated for a November 2025 release.
