Black Panther Fans React to Damson Idris’ Casting Hint
With rumors continuing to brew regarding Damson Idris’ much-discussed casting as the MCU’s new Black Panther, Marvel fans on the internet have come out to share their reactions on the proposition. While most MCU enthusiasts seem to be in support of the 33-year-old actor’s recruitment as the Wakandan superhero, some have expressed their reservations with Marvel trying to recast the late Chadwick Boseman’s iconic role.
Fans react to Damson Idris’ Black Panther casting possibility
Amid rumors that the F1 actor could soon take on the mantle of Black Panther, fans have taken to social media to voice their opinions about the possible casting choice.
The two most prominent theories about Damson Idris’ enlistment as the African superhero include him either playing T’Challa’s son or a completely different variant of Black Panther. Alluding to the version where K’Shamba portrayed the beloved hero in the comics, one X (formerly Twitter) fan shared an excerpt featuring the future king of Wakanda before noting how Damson Idris “really is the obvious choice.”
Another fan echoed these sentiments by writing, “God, I really hope he actually is, cuz this is legendary casting.” Meanwhile, a third user posted a concept art of Damson Idris dressed as Black Panther, seemingly giving their approval to the casting rumor.
In a similar fashion, one more MCU fan expressed that they wish to see Idris play an alternate version of the character. They wrote, “I would love for him to play multiverse Black panther that gets added to the mcu.”
However, not all reactions to the said speculation have been positive. One X user suggested that Marvel should not meddle with the legacy left behind by Chadwick Boseman. They noted, “Can we just leave the Black Panther character alone. It was played by one of the greatest actor and they left a huge legacy that no one can and should replace.”
This comes after Damson Idris gave a “Yes—no!” reply to him having held talks with Marvel about possibly playing Black Panther in a future Marvel project. He further increased fan expectations by confirming that he would agree to play the superhero if Marvel Studios ever came calling.
