The Fantastic Four: First Steps Sequel in Development at Marvel

Ahead of the impending theatrical release of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, it seems like Marvel Studios has already begun plotting what’s next for Marvel’s first family. Besides appearing in the highly anticipated Avengers movies, the fan-favorite superhero team might also star in a potential Fantastic Four 2 project.

When could be the release date window for The Fantastic Four: First Steps sequel?

According to a new report, Marvel Studios is reportedly developing a Fantastic Four sequel, which would be part of its 2028 movie slate. Also part of the lineup are said to be the long-delayed Blade movie and Black Panther 3. The said projects would also be possibly part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe‘s next saga, as the Multiverse Saga is expected to conclude with the release of Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027.

Set to arrive in theaters on July 25, The Fantastic Four: First Steps is directed by Matt Shakman. The movie will be led by franchise newcomers Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/ Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing. Additional cast members include Natasha Lyonne, Julia Garner as the Silver Surfer, and Ralph Ineson as Galactus, along with John Malkovich and Paul Walter Hauser.

“Set against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world, Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four: First Steps introduces Marvel’s First Family — Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Johnny Storm/Human Torch and Ben Grimm/The Thing as they face their most daunting challenge yet,” reads the official synopsis. “Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, they must defend Earth from a ravenous space god called Galactus and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer. And if Galactus’ plan to devour the entire planet and everyone on it weren’t bad enough, it suddenly gets very personal.”
