Rebel Ridge Director’s A24 Halloween-Set Movie Taps Saturday Night Star for Lead Role

A24 has found the actor who will be leading Rebel Ridge director Jeremy Saulnier’s upcoming Halloween-set movie titled, October. This marks the filmmaker’s sixth feature directorial project, after previously directing 2007’s horror comedy Murder Party, 2013’s revenge thriller Blue Ruin, 2015’s horror thriller Green Room, 2018’s action thriller Hold the Dark, and 2024’s Netflix thriller Rebel Ridge.

Who will be leading A24’s Halloween-set movie October?

Saturday Night star Cory Michael Smith has officially been tapped for the leading role in the upcoming A24 genre movie October. This marks Smith’s first movie project as the lead. However, this isn’t the first time that the actor is collaborating with the A24, as he’s also set to star in the studio’s upcoming Zac Efron-led thriller movie Famous.

October is being described as a fugitive thriller that will take place during the Halloween. It will be written and directed by Saulnier, with A24 serving as its producer and financier. The action horror thriller will be produced by Saulnier, Rich Peete, Eli Bush, Skei Saulnier, with Ronald Bronstein and Josh Safdie, Traci Carlson, Elliott Coley, and Macon Blair set as executive producers. At the moment, the casting search is still underway. It also has no official release date yet.

Smith most recently starred in the HBO movie Mountainhead, in which he portrayed billionaire Ven Parish, alongside Steve Carell, Ramy Youssef, and Jason Schwartzman. He will also next be seen in the Cannes-winning comedy drama movie Sentimental Value, which hails from director Joachim Trier.
