WWE’s Jade Cargill Cast in Jonathan Majors-Led Action Thriller Set in Harlem

A new casting update confirms that WWE star Jade Cargill will make her acting debut opposite Loki star Jonathan Majors in an action thriller titled True Threat. The film follows a Special Forces operative on a mission for justice after his son’s murder. It also marks the first feature project from Southland Stories, a company focused on spotlighting underrepresented voices.

True Threat adds Jade Cargill to cast opposite Jonathan Majors

WWE Superstar Jade Cargill will make her acting debut in True Threat, an upcoming Harlem-set action thriller directed by Gerard McMurray.

Cargill stars opposite Jonathan Majors, who plays Vernon Threat, a Special Forces operative seeking revenge for his son’s murder by the Apollo Kids gang. Cargill has been cast to portray the role of Meeka. The character holds a key position in the Apollo Kids gang and serves as one of the film’s main antagonists. She runs the red light district of the building and holds serious power inside The Carter, a 20-story project complex.

Alexis Garcia’s CAT5 and Southland Stories are producing the film. True Threat marks Southland Stories’ first feature project, with the company focused on underrepresented voices.

Director Gerard McMurray previously helmed The First Purge and Burning Sands. He co-wrote the script with Hodge K. Johnson. Larnell Stovall will design the film’s action sequences, which feature 52 Blocks, a Black American martial arts style. It will be the first time that this style will be shown on screen in such a significant way.

Production is set to begin in fall 2025. Cargill’s casting, announced after her WrestleMania 41 appearance, follows Majors’ confirmation in March. Gerard McMurray told Deadline, “I am excited to have Jade join us on True Threat. She is a unique talent with a rare blend of athleticism, charisma, and control on camera. The role of Meeka requires presence and precision, and Jade brings both. I believe audiences will see a completely new side of her in this film.”

The producers added, “Jade is exactly the type of dynamic talent we want to introduce to the global film audience. She is already a force in the sports and entertainment world.”
