Captain America’s Chris Evans on Feeling Sad About Avengers: Doomsday
Chris Evans is excited to see Avengers: Doomsday; however, he’s not looking forward to missing out on the movie’s forthcoming publicity tours.
Evans is known for playing Steve Rogers/Captain America in the MCU. His character made his official debut in 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger and was then featured in a number of related projects before his final outing in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.
Evans is now starring in Celine Song’s Materialists alongside Dakota Johnson and Pedro Pascal (who now plays Reed Richards in the MCU and will star in Avengers: Doomsday). The movie will be released in United States theaters on June 13, 2025, by A24.
What did Chris Evans say about Avengers: Doomsday?
Speaking with ScreenRant, Evans said that, while he’s not filming anything for Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday at this time, he still talks to the Russo Brothers and Robert Downey Jr. “all the time.”
“I mean, it’s sad to be away,” Evans commented. “It’s sad to not be back with the band, but I’m sure they’re doing something incredible, and I’m sure it’s going to be that much harder when it comes out and you feel like you weren’t invited to the party.”
There were previously rumors that Evans might return for Avengers: Doomsday, either as Captain America or a different character entirely, though none of these reports have been confirmed at this time.
Plot details for Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday, which is currently in production, remain under wraps at this time. The movie will be released on December 18, 2026, before the sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, arrives on December 17, 2027.
In addition to Materialists, Evans can soon be seen acting alongside Margaret Qualley in Ethan Coen’s Honey Don’t! Having premiered at Cannes earlier this year, that movie arrives in theaters on August 22, 2025, from Focus Features.
