Jared Leto Denies New Sexual Misconduct Allegations

Jared Leto has responded to the allegations of several women, some of whom were underage at the time, that the actor behaved inappropriately toward them.

What are the latest allegations against Leto?

In a new story from Air Mail published over the weekend, the magazine spoke to nine women who all claimed that Leto acted inappropriately toward them at various times.

Amongst the complaints, the women allege that Leto asked sexual questions to a 16-year-old girl, walked out of a room nude and exposed himself in front of a 17-year-old, and performed more sexually explicit acts, including masturbating in front of an 18-year-old.

The report from Air Mail also notes that Leto would recruit young women to attend various parties he hosted throughout the 2000s. One woman who attended parties in 2007 and 2008 noted that he would often require photos to be provided before allowing entry into the parties.

“I was 18 the first time I went, and I was definitely not the youngest person there,” said the woman. She estimates the ratio at the parties to be 60 very young women to four or five men. She says the focus seemed to be on getting girls to skinny-dip: “The energy was all about getting the girls in the pool.”

Leto denies all allegations against him

In response to the allegations, a representative for Leto denied all aspects of Air Mail’s story. Namely, one specific story from Laura La Rue, a model who was 16 in 2008, who alleges that Leto flirted with her during a visit to his studio in 2009.

Leto’s representatives claim that their “communications contain nothing sexual or inappropriate,” and also note that La Rue “later applied to work as Mr. Leto’s personal assistant, further underscoring the absence of anything inappropriate in any of their interactions.”

Leto’s team also denied the story that Leto met a 16-year-old at a coffee shop, got her phone number, then later left a voice message described as the “weirdest, grossest” thing. While Leto’s representatives didn’t outright deny it, they did note that Leto “has not had a drink or used drugs in 35 years” in response to the woman theorizing Leto might have been inebriated during the call.

This is not the first Leto has faced allegations of misconduct. In 2018, actor Dylan Sprouse took to Twitter to mention that Leto “slid into the DMs” of female models aged 18 to 25, with director James Gunn responding to it “He starts at 18 on the internet?”

Leto is currently set to star in Disney’s upcoming Tron: Ares, the latest entry in the long-running Tron franchise.
