Samuel L. Jackson to Lead Tulsa King Spin-off After Season 3 Role
Samuel L. Jackson will appear in the upcoming Season 3 of Tulsa King before headlining the show’s spin-off set in New Orleans, Louisiana. Jackson is the latest Hollywood A-lister to join a Taylor Sheridan project. Previously, Sheridan has worked with Kevin Costner in Yellowstone, Sam Elliott in 1883, Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford in 1923, and Sylvester Stallone in Tulsa King, among many others.
Samuel L. Jackson to appear in Tulsa King Season 3, lead New Orleans spin-off
Samuel L. Jackson will make an appearance in Tulsa King Season 3 and then star in its spin-off, NOLA King. Like the original show and other Taylor Sheridan projects, NOLA King will stream on Paramount+.
Back in September 2024, Tulsa King writer Terence Winter spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about the spin-off, saying, “There’s been some talk of that. That’s in the talking stages. He further added, “I’m just looking forward to getting those beignets in New Orleans.”
The plot of the show is kept under wraps. However, per Deadline, Jackson could be portraying Russell Lee Washington Jr., a character with a similar criminal background as Stallone’s Dwight “The General” Manfredi. The pair will reportedly clash in the third chapter of Tulsa King before Washington departs for New Orleans and sets up his empire there.
According to Deadline’s sources, Chris McCarthy, President and CEO of Showtime and MTV Entertainment Studios, believed that the world of Tulsa King needed to be expanded in the same manner as Yellowstone, leading to the conception of NOLA King. The outlet also reported that screenwriter Dave Erickson would pen the series. Previously, he worked with Sheridan on Mayor of Kingstown and Tulsa King Season 3.
This new chapter of the Stallone-led series is currently filming. Deadline reported that Jackson would join the production in July 2025, and NOLA King could potentially start shooting in February 2026.
