Prey 2: Predator Star Talks Possible Sequel Ahead of Badlands
Will there be more Prey in the future? Star Amber Midthunder shared her thoughts about Prey 2 and whether there will be a Predator movie sequel.
What is the latest on Prey 2?
While speaking with Discussing Film at the premiere of Predator: Killer of Killers, Midthunder said she would love to make Prey 2 as long as director Dan Trachtenberg is involved.
“Dan is such a great director, and, obviously, I think with what he created with Prey the first time, he can only be the one to be trusted with that again,” Midthunder said. “I would love to do that.”

In Prey, Midthunder starred as Naru, a Comanche warrior thrust into a battle against a Predator that landed in the Great Plains in 1719. If fighting the Predator wasn’t enough of a challenge, Naru must evade capture by a group of ruthless colonizers.
Trachtenberg directed Prey from a screenplay written by Patrick Aison, based on a story created by the duo. Prey, a prequel to Predator, was released on Hulu in August 2022 to universal acclaim. Hulu reported that Prey was the most-watched premiere in the streamer’s history.
Instead of making a direct sequel to Prey, Trachtenberg decided to expand the Predator franchise with two new movies. The first is Predator: Killer of Killers, an adult animated anthology movie centered around three of the fiercest warriors in human history: a Viking raider, a ninja, and a WWII pilot. “While all these warriors are killers in their own right,” the synopsis reads. “They are merely prey for their new opponent — the ultimate killer of killers.”
Directed by Trachtenberg and Micho Robert Rutare, Predator: Killer of Killers streams exclusively on Hulu on June 6, 2025.
Trachtenberg’s second movie is Predator: Badlands, a live-action Predator movie starring Elle Fanning and Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi. The official synopsis reads, “Cast out from its clan, an alien hunter and an unlikely ally embark on a treacherous journey in search of the ultimate adversary.”
Predator: Badlands opens in theaters on November 7, 2025.
