The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ Joseph Quinn Spoils MCU Movie’s Surprise Villain

Joseph Quinn has revealed that another villain will appear in The Fantastic Four: First Steps beyond Galactus and the Silver Surfer.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps opens in United States theaters next month. Directed by Matt Shakman, the cast of the MCU movie includes Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing.

What did Joseph Quinn say about The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ secret villain?

Speaking at CCXPMX 25 this past weekend, via a video shared on X by CultureCrave, Quinn confirmed that Mole Man will be in the new Marvel movie.

“We’ve got a lot of fantastic characters in there,” Quinn said. “There is also Mole Man, who is wonderful in it, but Galactus is the big bad. He’s the big, evil, planet-gobbling space god…He’s played brilliantly by the wonderful Ralph [Ineson]. And Silver Surfer, played by the brilliant Julia Garner. We were very lucky to work with her, she’s excellent in the film. There are lots of brilliant characters in this film, that’s for sure.”

There have been rumors that Mole Man will appear in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, though there has been no official confirmation up until now, as the character hasn’t been seen in any of the trailers. The popular theory online is that Paul Walter Hauser could be playing Mole Man, as Hauser’s casting in the film has been confirmed, but it has not yet been announced who he’s playing.

“Set against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world, Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four: First Steps introduces Marvel’s First Family—Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Johnny Storm/Human Torch and Ben Grimm/The Thing as they face their most daunting challenge yet,” the official synopsis for the movie reads.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps will be released in United States theaters on July 25, 2025.
