M3GAN 2.0 Final Trailer Previews Killer Robot’s Redemption Arc

Universal Pictures has shared the final M3GAN 2.0 trailer for the highly anticipated sequel to 2023’s sci-fi horror movie starring Allison Williams and Jenna Davis. It is currently slated to arrive in theaters on June 27, 2025.

What happens in the M3GAN 2.0 final trailer?

The video continues to highlight the fan-favorite killer robot’s unexpected redemption arc as she returns to protect Cady from another killer robot who is much stronger and advanced than her. The cast also includes Violet McGraw, Ivanna Sakhno, Brian Jordan Alvarez, Jen Van Epps, Aristotle Athari, Timm Sharp, and Jemaine Clement.

M3GAN 2.0 is written and directed by returning filmmaker Gerard Johnstone from a story by Johnstone and Akela Cooper, based on characters created by Cooper and James Wan. It is produced by Wan, Williams, and Jason Blum, with Joe Hill, Johnstone, Adam Hendricks, Greg Gilreath, Michael Clear, Judson Scott, and Mark D. Katchur serving as executive producers.

“Two years after M3GAN, a marvel of artificial intelligence, went rogue and embarked on a murderous (and impeccably choreographed) rampage and was subsequently destroyed, M3GAN’s creator Gemma has become a high-profile author and advocate for government oversight of A.I. Meanwhile, Gemma’s niece Cady, now 14, has become a teenager, rebelling against Gemma’s overprotective rules,” reads the official synopsis.

“Unbeknownst to them, the underlying tech for M3GAN has been stolen and misused by a powerful defense contractor to create a military-grade weapon known as Amelia (Ivanna Sakhno; Ahsoka, Pacific Rim: Uprising), the ultimate killer infiltration spy. But as Amelia’s self-awareness increases, she becomes decidedly less interested in taking orders from humans. Or in keeping them around. With the future of human existence on the line, Gemma realizes that the only option is to resurrect M3GAN and give her a few upgrades, making her faster, stronger, and more lethal. As their paths collide, the original A.I. icon is about to meet her match.”
