Superman Funko Pops Reveal New Details on Mysterious DCU Villain
New Funko Pops for James Gunn’s Superman seemingly reveal a major DCU secret.
Superman will be released in United States theaters this coming July. Written and directed by Gunn, the movie stars David Corenswet as the titular superhero, while Rachel Brosnahan plays Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult portrays the villainous Lex Luthor.
A villain referred to as the Hammer of Boravia will also be featured in the film. Not much is known about the Hammer of Boravia, as he’s an original character created for the movie, apart from the fact that he can seemingly go toe-to-toe with the Man of Steel, as seen in the trailers.
Newly released Funko Pops for Superman, however, may have now spoiled his identity.
What did the Superman Funk Pops seemingly spoil about a DCU villain?
The “chase” Funko Pop for the Hammer of Boravia is Ultraman, meaning that both Funkos have the same product number. As noted by ComicBookMovie’s Josh Wilding, Funko typically only offers a “chase” version when both Funkos are the same character.

“Many of Funko’s collectibles come with a chance of chase, which means there’s a chance that you will receive the chase, or a limited quantity variation of the item as your purchase,” a description of Funko’s “chase” collectibles reads. “Chase variants are shipped randomly, and they can appear in different color ways, or as a glow-in-the-dark figure, a figure with flocking (a special velvety texture), a figure with glitter or metallic features, a black light figure, and more.”
This isn’t official confirmation that Hammer of Boravia is Ultraman are the same person — there’s also the question of whether an unmasked Ultraman will look the same/be the same character as his DC Comics counterpart — but it does seem to strongly hint that they might be.
DC fans can find out for sure when Superman flies into United States theaters and IMAX on July 11, 2025, from Warner Bros. Pictures.
