How much did Thunderbolts* make at the box office on Thursday?

Per Deadline, Thunderbolts* made approximately $11.5 million at the United States box office from Thursday night previews. That puts it about on par with Captain America 4, also known as Captain America: Brave New World, which made $12 million.

Captain America 4 then went on to make about $100 million over the four-day holiday weekend ($88.5 million over the three-day weekend), while Thunderbolts* is currently believed to be tracking somewhere in the $70 million range for its three-day weekend. That number could increase over the coming days based on positive word-of-mouth.

“In Thunderbolts*, Marvel Studios assembles an unconventional team of antiheroes — Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, Red Guardian, Ghost, Taskmaster, and John Walker,” the synopsis for the movie reads. “After finding themselves ensnared in a death trap set by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, these disillusioned castoffs must embark on a dangerous mission that will force them to confront the darkest corners of their pasts. Will this dysfunctional group tear themselves apart, or find redemption and unite as something much more before it’s too late?”

Thunderbolts* is produced by Kevin Feige, while Louis D’Esposito, Brian Chapek, and Jason Tamez serve as executive producers. The screenplay comes from Eric Pearson and Joanna Calo, based on a story by Pearson. The cast also includes Chris Bauer, Wendell Pierce, and more.
