Glen Powell Is a Country Music Star in New Judd Apatow Movie
Glen Powell and Judd Apatow are teaming up together for a new movie exploring the world of country music, according to a recent report from THR.
What do we know about Judd Apatow’s new movie?
The movie, which is currently untitled, is being fast-tracked by Universal Pictures and will star Powell as a country music star who is “in free fall.” Apatow will direct the movie, with both Powell and Apatow being credited as writers for the project.
Apatow will produce the movie through his Apatow Productions banner, while Powell and Dan Cohen will produce for Barnstorm. Erik Baiers, Universal’s senior executive VP of Production, will oversee the movie for the studio.
For Apatow, it’ll likely be his next project following a two-part HBO documentary project about Mel Brooks that is he currently co-directing with Michael Bonfiglio. Prior to that, Apatow directed the documentary Bob and Done: A Love Story, about the friendship between Bob Newhart and Don Rickles, as well as 2022’s two-part documentary George Carlin’s American Dream. Apatow also directed 2022’s The Bubble for Netflix, and 2020’s The King of Staten Island.
For Powell, it’ll be yet another high-profile movie for the rising superstar. After starring in 2024’s Twisters, he’ll next star in a remake of The Running Man from Edgar Wright this year, as well as the black comedy thriller Huntington, from director John Patton Ford.
