Killer Klowns From Outer Space Remake in Development by Ryan Gosling

Amazon MGM Studios has reportedly partnered with Oscar nominee and blockbuster actor Ryan Gosling (La La Land, Barbie) to develop the Killer Klowns From Outer Space remake of the Chiodo brothers’ 1988 cult classic horror comedy. This comes ahead of the movie’s 35th anniversary celebration of its theatrical release.

Killer Klowns From Space was directed by Stephen Chiodo from a screenplay he co-wrote with his brother Charles Chiodo. They also served as producers alongside their brother Edward Chiodo. The original movie was led by Grant Cramer as Mike, Suzanne Snyder as Debbie, John Allen Nelson as Officer Dave Hansen, Royal Dano as Farmer Gene Green, John Vernon as Officer Curtis Mooney, and Christoper Titus as Bob McReed, with Charles Chiodo portraying Jojo the Klownzilla.

Who is involved in the Killer Klowns From Outer Space remake?

According to a new report, Gosling is producing the Killer Klowns From Outer Space remake alongside producting partner Jessie Henderson through their production company General Admission. At the moment, it’s unclear if Gosling has plans to star in the project, which is currently still in the very early stages of development.

The horror comedy remake is expected to be part of their three-year first-look deal with Amazom MGM Studios. Besides Gosling and Henderson, the Chiodo brothers are also reportedly involved in the project “in some kind of producing capacity.”

“In the film, a spaceship looking like a circus tent lands in a field near a small town, signaling the attack of deviant, red-nosed, balloon-twisting psychos from another world who plan to annihilate mankind by turning people into cotton candy,” reads the original movie’s synopsis. “Luckily, the town’s teen citizenry decides to fight back and teach the cosmic bozos a lesson. But these klowns are no klutzes, turning popcorn, peanuts and caramel corn into playful but deadly weapons of madcap destruction and mayhem!”
