Marvel Studios released a new stunt-focused Thunderbolts* clip along with a behind-the-scenes featurette. The footage highlights Yelena Belova’s leap off Merdeka 118 and showcases practical effects. It also reveals Florence Pugh’s commitment to performing the stunt herself. Thunderbolts* premieres in theaters on May 2, 2025.

Florence Pugh’s Yelena jumps from world’s second tallest building in Thunderbolts* clip

Marvel Studios has released a new clip from Thunderbolts* featuring Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova. In the footage, she leaps off Merdeka 118, the second tallest building in the world after Dubai’s Burj Khalifa. The scene shows Belova parachuting to safety after completing the jump.

Behind-the-scenes footage from a companion featurette confirms the jump was executed practically, with Florence Pugh performing the stunt herself using wire support. According to the featurette, Disney’s Health and Safety team initially opposed the idea but ultimately approved it after Pugh insisted. “I love heights!” Pugh said before the stunt, as shown in the video.

The same day of the jump, the production team also filmed a separate stunt involving the detonation of an entire floor in a building. This sequence required exact timing and was also performed practically, not digitally. Marvel reportedly emphasized practical effects for this film over green-screen-heavy methods.

The clip was released alongside new international posters celebrating Thailand’s Songkran festival. These posters are more colorful and vibrant than previous promotional artwork. They feature festive designs and cultural elements inspired by the holiday.

Thunderbolts* stars Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, and Hannah John-Kamen. The cast also includes Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Geraldine Viswanathan, Laurence Fishburne, and Rachel Weisz.

Thunderbolts* is scheduled to premiere in theaters on May 2, 2025. Marvel Studios also confirmed that the characters in the film are anti-heroes and villains working on missions for the government.
