Thunderbolts*’ Wyatt Russell Is a Rodeo Cowboy in Broke Trailer With Dennis Quaid

Sony Pictures has shared the official Broke trailer for its newest Western drama, starring Wyatt Russell (Thunderbolts*) and Dennis Quaid (Lawmen: Bass Reeves). The movie will be available to rent or own on digital platforms, starting on May 6, 2025.

What happens in the Broke trailer?

The video introduces Russell as a rodeo cowboy with a brain trauma, who’s struggling to accept that his career as a bronc rider is now over. The cast also includes Auden Thornton (True Story, Black Mirror), Mary McDonnell (Rebel, Major Crimes), Johnny Berchtold (Snow Falls, Reacher), and Tom Skerrit (Ted).

Broke is written and directed by Carlyle Eubank (The Signal), who is also serving as an executive producer. The film is produced by Russell, Vince Vaughn, Peter Billingsley, Victoria Vaughn, John Stalberg, Jr., David Frigerio, Paris Kassidokostas-Latsis, and Terry Dougas. Executive producers are Jean-Luc De Fanti, Alexis Varouxakis, Max Work, Steven Hearst, Jack Hearst, Alex Hertzberg, Oliver Hudson, and Adam Burger. It hails from Wild West Picture Show, Hercules Film Fund and Rhea Films, Slow Burn Productions, and Sony Pictures.

“The film is a contemporary western following the story of True Brandywine, a bareback bronc rider clinging to his fading rodeo career,” reads the synopsis. “When True gets trapped in a freak spring blizzard, he must battle injuries, illness, and the bitter cold. While fighting for his survival, True is forced to face his choices and the circumstances that led him to his tenuous situation.”
