Eddington Poster & Photo Tease Ari Aster A24 Movie With Pedro Pascal & Joaquin Phoenix
The first poster and photo from Ari Aster’s Eddington has been released.
Aster made his feature film directorial debut in 2018 with A24’s Hereditary. He followed that up with 2019’s Midsommar and 2023’s Beau Is Afraid, both of which were also released through A24.
Now, Aster is working on a new movie, Eddington, that will hold its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival this year. It stars Joaquin Phoenix, Pedro Pascal, Emma Stone, and more.

What do we know about Ari Aster’s Eddington?
Per Variety, the movie is “believed to revolve around a small-town sheriff in New Mexico with ambitious dreams.”
The film is also believed to take place during the COVID-19 pandemic. The tagline for the poster, “Hindsight is 2020,” further hints at this, given that the pandemic started in March 2020. Further plot details remain under wraps at this time.
In addition to Phoenix, Pascal, and Stone, the cast of Eddington includes Austin Butler, Deirdre O’Connell, Michael Ward, Clifton Collins Jr., and Luke Grimes. Production on the movie started in March 2024. Aster wrote the script in addition to directing and also serves as a producer alongside Lars Knudsen for Square Peg.
Phoenix and Aster worked together on Beau Is Afraid. That movie was released in April 2023 and sees Phoenix play the titular Beau Wassermann character. It was met with mixed reviews from critics and only made $12.3 million at the global box office; however, Phoenix received a Golden Globe nomination for his performance. It also starred Patti LuPone, Amy Ryan, Nathan Lane, Parker Posey, Richard King, and more.
A nationwide release date for Eddington has not yet been announced. This year’s Cannes Film Festival begins on May 13, 2025, and lasts until May 24, 2025.
