What happens in the Nonnas trailer?
The video features Vaughn’s character Joe Scaravella as he enlists the help of four grandmothers to open an Italian restaurant in honor of his late mother. It highlights the bond they will formed through cooking and running a business together. The cast also includes Lorraine Bracco as Roberta, Talia Shire as Teresa, Brenda Vaccaro as Antonella, Joe Manganiello as Bruno, Drea de Matteo as Stella, Linda Cardellini as Olivia, Campbell Scott, and Michael Rispoli.
Inspired by the life story of Jody Scaravella, Nonnas is directed by The Perks of Being a Flower author and director Stephen Chbosky from a screenplay written by Liz Maccie. It is executive produced by Vaughn, Scott Budnick, Ameet Shukla, Jay Peterson, Todd Lubin, Leah Gonzalez, Stacy Calabrese, Amanda Morgan Palmer, Alexis Garcia, Jody Scaravella, Pamela Hirsch, Christopher Slager, and Dan Guando. Producers are Gigi Pritzker, Rachel Shane, and Jack Turner.
“You can find family anywhere. Family doesn’t mean the family you were born to, but family is our neighbor, the person that you pass on the street,” Maccie said during a recent interview with EW. “Being there for each other, especially now — I hope the film inspires people to do that.”
