James Gunn May Have Revealed When Superman Trailer 2 Is Coming
James Gunn may just have disclosed the release date for the next trailer for Superman, his first theatrical project in DCU. Gunn and DC recently shared a clip from the film after it premiered at the 2025 CinemaCon.
While the footage included an extended look at the Man of Steel’s interaction with his super-dog Krypto, as well as his lair, the Fortress of Soltitude, it quickly cut to the teaser that fans first saw in December 2024. However, the Guardians of the Galaxy director now seems to have dropped a hint regarding Superman trailer 2.
Here’s when Superman trailer 2 could come out
In a recently released promotional video for Superman that James Gunn shared on X (formerly Twitter), the filmmaker interacted with Jim Lee, the chief creative officer and publisher of DC Comics.
The duo talked about their first memory of the iconic comic book character, recalling how they saw the Christopher Reeve-led Superman in the same in St. Louis theater, and urged fans to share similar stories of their own to commemorate Superman Day, which falls on April 18.
This has led many to believe that Superman trailer 2 could drop on the said day. Fondly adhered to as Superman Day, April 18 marks the first time that the last son of Krypton made an appearance on the pages through 1938’s Action Comics #1.
While neither Gunn nor DC Studios have shared an official update on the new Superman trailer as of yet, the significance of April 18th, combined with the movie’s fast-approaching release date makes it an ideal day to premiere fresh footage from the upcoming film.
Superman (2025) will see David Corenswet take on the red cape, with Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Skyler Gisondo, and Nathan Fillion, among others rounding up the supporting cast. The much-awaited movie hits theaters on July 11, 2025.
