Robert Pattinson is reportedly in early talks to join the cast of Dune 3.
Denis Villeneuve is currently working on the script for the next installment in the Dune franchise. A release date for Dune 3 has not yet been announced, though production is expected to begin this summer.
Per Deadline, Pattinson is now in early talks to join the cast of the movie.
According to Deadline’s article, a formal offer has not yet been presented to Pattinson and Legendary Pictures had no comment on the matter. It’s unclear who Pattinson will play should the deal come to fruition, though it is “expected to be a significant one compared to some of the other new openings.”
Pattinson is known for playing Edward Cullen in the Twilight franchise and Bruce Wayne in Matt Reeves’ The Batman. He recently starred in Mickey 17 and has a number of other forthcoming projects, including Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey and Lynne Ramsay’s Die, My Love.
What else do we know about Dune 3?
Deadline reports that Timothée Chalamet, Florence Pugh, and Zendaya are all expected to reprise their respective roles as Paul Atreides, Princess Irulan, and Chani in Dune 3, along with “a lot” of the stars from the first two movies. Jason Momoa also recently announced that he’s returning as Duncan Idaho in the film.
Dune 3 is expected to be an adaptation of Frank Herbert’s Dune Messiah, which was published in 1969. This is the second book in Herbert’s Dune series, as Villeneuve’s Dune and Dune: Part Two adapted the first novel.
In addition to the two movies, HBO also released a Dune: Prophecy series in November 2024. That show, which has been renewed for a second season, stars Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May, and more.
Dune and Dune: Part Two are both currently available to stream on Max.
