Hershey Chocolate Movie With Alexandra Daddario & Finn Wittrock Gets First Details

In a surprising piece of news, Variety is reporting that a movie about the Hershey chocolate company is in the works, with stars Alexandra Daddario and Finn Wittrock attached to star.

What is the Hershey movie about?

According to Variety’s report, the Hershey chocolate movie will be directed by Mark Waters, who worked on Mean Girls and Freaky Friday. The movie is set to begin filming immediately, too, with the report mentioning that production starts in May, with a 2026 release date being targeted.

The movie, titled Hershey for now, will see Wittrock play Milton Hershey, who builds the legendary candy empire alongside his wife, Kitty (Daddario). In real-life, Hershey’s candy was so popular that he was able to build a company town in Pennsylvania that remains to this day and is home to the company, as well as an amusement park, Hersheypark, themed all around the chocolate.

“Against all odds, Milton achieved great success, but unlike a lot of other wealthy men of his time, he shared his success with the working people and community around him,” said Mark Waters. “The core of ‘Hershey,’ the movie, will be the special love story between Milton and Catherine Hershey, who inspired his greatest legacy — the creation of Milton Hershey School. I’m excited to have Finn Wittrock and Alexandra Daddario to portray these two visionaries, who believed in leaving the world a better place than they found it — the kind of wonderful, true story that audiences are hungry for right now.”

Hershey was also a noted philanthropist. Prior to his death in 1945, Hershey transferred the majority of his assets, including control of the company, to a trust fund that would help benefit the Hershey Industrial School, a boarding school he and his wife founded in 1900. Hershey also established the M.S. Hershey Foundation, a charitable group that provides educational and cultural opportunities for Hershey residents.
