Mission: Impossible 8 Sets Premiere Date for The Final Reckoning

Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, the eighth film in the espionage franchise, will have its world premiere at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival.

When will Mission: Impossible 8 premiere?

After weeks of speculation, the Cannes Film Festival made it official by announcing the premiere date of Mission: Impossible 8. The Final Reckoning will play out of competition on Wednesday, May 14. Star Tom Cruise, director Christopher McQuarrie, and the rest of the cast will be in attendance to walk the steps of the Palais des Festivals.

This marks Cruise’s third time at Cannes. Cruise appeared on the Croisette in 1992 for Ron Howard’s Far and Away. 30 years later, Cruise received an honorary Palme d’Or and walked the red carpet for the world premiere of 2022’s Top Gun: Maverick. The Top Gun sequel received positive reviews at Cannes before becoming a box office sensation, grossing $1.5 billion worldwide.

“Every choice, every mission, has all led to this,” The Final Reckoning’s tagline reads. “After the events of Dead Reckoning, Ethan Hunt (Cruise) and his team must find the Sevastopol submarine and destroy the Entity, or else the world as we know it will change for the worse.”

Besides Cruise, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning stars Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, Henry Czerny, Mariela Garriga, Holt McCallany, Janet McTeer, Nick Offerman, Hannah Waddingham, Tramell Tillman, Shea Whigham, Greg Tarzan Davis, Charles Parnell, Mark Gatiss, Rolf Saxon, Lucy Tulugarjuk, and Angela Bassett.

McQuarrie directs The Final Reckoning from a screenplay he co-wrote with Erik Jendresen. The Final Reckoning becomes the fourth Mission: Impossible film to be directed by McQuarrie, continuing his longstanding partnership with Cruise. McQuarrie and Cruise are listed as the two producers on The Final Reckoning.

After premiering at Cannes, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning arrives in theaters on May 23.
