Avatar: The Last Airbender Movie Gets Official Title

The official title for the upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender movie has been revealed.

Nickelodeon and Paramount Animation president Ramsey Ann Naito announced during this year’s CinemaCon the official title of the upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender. The project, previously titled Aang: The Last Airbender, will be based on the popular Nickelodeon animated television series.

What will the new Avatar: The Last Airbender movie be called?

While Paramount did not share any footage from the upcoming film, it was revealed that the forthcoming feature will be called The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender. The studio may have made a wise choice in changing the title as if it did stick to the show’s original name, it would have to share almost the same title with the upcoming third installment of James Cameron’s Avatar movie.

The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender, which will center on the character’s young adult years, will feature the voices of Dave Bautista (The Killer’s Game, Guardians of the Galaxy), Dionne Quan (Rugrats, The Fairly OddParents), Jessica Matten (Frontier, Burden of Truth), and South Korean singer-songwriter Eric Nam as the titular last surviving Airbender. It was also announced just a few days ago that Invincible’s Steven Yeun has officially signed on to voice a character in the upcoming movie.

The movie will pick up several years after the events of Avatar: The Last Airbender. The original Avatar animated series aired on Nickelodeon from 2005 to 2008 with three seasons, while the sequel The Legend of Korra ran from 2012 to 2014. Avatar: The Last Airbender also received a live-action treatment last year. It stars Gordon Cormier, Kiawentiio, Ian Ousley, Dallas Liu, and more.

Other details about The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender remain under wraps, but it is expected to hit theaters on January 30, 2026.
