Ryan Gosling-Led Project Hail Mary Trailer Debuts at CinemaCon

While the hype for Ryan Gosling’s upcoming film, Project Hail Mary, continues to grow with time, the film has received its first official trailer at the ongoing CinemaCon 2025. The movie, which draws inspiration from renowned sci-fi author Andy Weir’s novel of the same name, follows the adventures of Ryland Grace, a school-teacher-turned-astronaut. After he wakes up from a coma, stranded in a space station with no recollection of recent events, Grace remembers that he is on a mission to save Earth from entering an Ice Age. The ambitious project is on track to hit theatres in March 2026.

Description for CinemaCon’s Project Hail Mary trailer highlights Ryan Gosling

Similar to the strategy adopted by several other studios, Amazon MGM also unveiled the first trailer for Project Hail Mary at the 2025 CinemaCon.

The clip opens with Sandra Hüller’s Eva Stratt, a scientist committed to restoring the light in Earth’s dying Sun, approaching Ryan Gosling’s Ryland Grace for assistance, as per DiscussingFilm. The Barbie star establishes the comedic tone of the film through his clumsy and nerdy demeanor when Hüller’s character informs him that the mission is, in fact, a ‘Hail Mary.’ An oblivious Grace poses the question as to who will undertake such a dangerous task, only to find everyone in the room staring at him.

As Gosling’s character futilely tries to convince people that he is not the right person for the job, the Project Hail Mary trailer cuts to his arduous time in space, showcasing different versions of the character with varying lengths of hair and beard. Ryland Grace soon comes across a spaceship-like entity that conveys a message to him. Upon boarding the foreign vessel, he encounters a friendly extraterrestrial, who only reveals his small hand in the snippet.

The trailer successfully conveys the unique tone of the film, which appears to be a coherent mix of comedy, adventure, and grandeur. Alongside Ryan Gosling and Sandra Hüller, the movie will also feature the likes of Milana Vayntrub and James Ortiz. Helmed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, Project Hail Mary is set to premiere on the big screens on March 20, 2026.
