Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 Teaser Trailer: Matthew Lillard Stars in Horror Movie Sequel

Universal Pictures has finally released the first Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 trailer for Blumhouse‘s highly-anticipated horror sequel the 2023 supernatural movie based on Scott Cawthon’s popular horror video game of the same name. The next installment is set to make its debut on December 5, 2025.

Who is in the Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 teaser trailer?

The video introduces the sequel’s main cast, including Scream vet Matthew Lillard as he reprises his villainous role as William Afton. In the 2023 movie, the character was initially introduced as a career counselor who was later revealed to be a serial killer. He is also joined by returning cast members Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games films) as Mike Schmidt, Elizabeth Lail (You) as Vanessa, and Piper Rubio (For All Mankind) as Abby.

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is once again directed by Emma Tammi, who co-wrote the screenplay with Cawthon and Seth Cuddeback. The sequel is produced by Cawthon and Jason Blum, with Christopher H. Warner serving as an executive producer. Despite receiving negative reviews from critics, the first installment still earned a worldwide gross of over $280 million worldwide against a reported budget of around $20 million.

At the moment, Lillard is currently in production on Scream 7, in which he’ll be reprising his fan-favorite role as Stu Macher. The next entry to the long-running slasher franchise will be arriving in theaters on February 27, 2026. Lillard was also recently tapped to join the Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 cast for an undisclosed role.
