Spider-Man Fans are Split Over Brand New Day Dropping MCU Tradition
MCU fans are theorizing that Spider-Man 4’s title, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, could mean a new trilogy is in the works.
On Monday, March 31, 2025, the official title of Spider-Man 4 was revealed to be Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Tom Holland will reprise his role as Peter Parker in the film, while Stranger Things’ Sadie Sink has been cast in an undisclosed role.
What are MCU fans saying about Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s title?
With this being the first MCU Spider-Man movie that doesn’t include the word “home” in its title, some fans are glad that it’s abandoning the tradition, while others aren’t a fan of the change.
It was nice to see the new name,

Others, meanwhile, are theorizing that the “Brand More Day” title could indicate a new trilogy of Spider-Man movies that feature the word “Day” in all of them.
It's probably gonna be the start of the new 'Day' trilogy. Let the theories of 'Day' titles commence…

Plot details for Spider-Man 4 remain under wraps at this time. The movie is being released after Avengers: Doomsday and before Avengers: Secret Wars, with Holland’s name noticeably absent from the Doomsday cast that was announced last week. That being said, more MCU stars than were announced last week are expected to be featured in the movie, so it’s still possible that Holland could show up.
Holland said of Spider-Man: Brand New Day in a video shown at Cinemacon, “I am so sorry I can’t be with you. I am halfway around the world shooting a movie. I know we left you with a massive cliffhanger at the end of No Way Home, so Spider-Man: Brand New Day is a fresh start. It is exactly that. That’s all I can say.”
The film is being directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who previously made Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. He was also attached to direct the fourth Avengers movie for a time; however, that was when Jonathan Majors was attached to the project and it was titled Avengers: The Kangaroo Dynasty.
Marvel Studios and Sony’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released in United States theaters on July 31, 2026.
