Carrie Coon Hasn’t Seen Avengers: Infinity War, Turned Down Endgame Appearance

Carrie Coon, who played Proxima Midnight in the MCU, hasn’t seen Avengers: Infinity War.

Coon’s Proxima Midnight made her Marvel Studios debut in 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War, which is directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, also known as the Russo Brothers. The character returns in Avengers: Endgame; however, she doesn’t have any lines in the movie.

Appearing on a recent episode of Ringer Movies’ The Big Picture, Coon’s husband Tracy Letts revealed that neither he nor his wife have seen Avengers: Infinity War.

Why didn’t Carrie Coon return for Avengers: Endgame?

Letts said, “I believe [Marvel] went to her for the second one, and they asked her to be in the second one. And she said, ‘Well, the first one is the most successful movie ever made. Are you going to pay me any more money?’ And they said, ‘No. We’re not going to pay you any more money.’

“…She said, ‘Wow, you’re not going to pay me any more money, then I don’t think I’m going to do it.’ And they said, ‘You should feel fortunate to be part of the Marvel Universe.’ So she declined. But I think they put her in it anyway.

“…We would’ve made a bigger deal out of this, but it would have involved us watching the movies and we weren’t going to do that.”

Coon now plays Laurie Duffy alongside Leslie Bibb’s Kate Bohr and Michelle Monaghan’s Jaclyn Lemon in HBO’s The White Lotus Season 3. The season finale of the show airs on Sunday, April 6, 2025. She’s also known for playing Nora Durst in HBO’s The Leftovers and Gloria Burgle in FX’s Fargo Season 3, while her filmography includes 2014’s Gone Girl, 2018’s The Legacy of a Whitetail Deer Hunter, 2018’s Widows, 2021’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife, 2023’s His Three Daughters, and 2024’s Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.

Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, meanwhile, are currently streaming on Disney+.
