Zack Snyder to Direct UFC Movie Brawler, Dana White Issues Statement

Army of the Dead director Zack Snyder has officially signed on to helm the upcoming Ultimate Fighting Championship drama movie titled, Brawler. Snyder will be partnering with Dana White‘s popular mixed martial arts company and Turki Alalshikh for General Entertainment Authority.

“Behind every great fighter is the story of how they got there,” Snyder said in a statement. “UFC is the world leader in combat sports, and I’m honored to be partnering with them to tell this incredible story.”

Brawler will be directed by Snyder, who is also co-writing the screenplay with long-time collaborators Shay Hatten and Kurt Johnstad. The creative trio’s most recent project together was 2023’s Netflix space opera, Rebel Moon. The story will center around a young fighter “from the rough streets of Los Angeles, who gets a shot at a UFC championship, battling his inner demons as he fights for redemption.”

What did Dana White say about Zack Snyder’s Brawler movie?

“Turki Alalshikh and Zack Snyder have a shared vision to create a film about UFC,” White said. “They are both very passionate about this project to show fans what it takes to become a UFC champion. It’s an incredibly ambitious project, and I look forward to seeing it come to life.”

In addition, Alalshikh has also expressed his admiration towards Snyder’s movies, while also revealing the reason why he thinks the filmmaker is the perfect choice to helm the project.

“I’ve been a fan of Zack’s work for years, his unique style – from his iconic action sequences to his sweeping visuals and intensely emotional storytelling – coupled with his humanized portrayal of deeply flawed characters is singular, I couldn’t think of a better person to partner with to bring the UFC to the big screen,” He said. “The Ring Magazine, with its 103-year legacy, will support to ensure the project’s success,”

Brawler will be executive produced by Hatten and Johnstad, along with Alalshikh and UFC Chief Content Officer Craig Borsari. It will be produced by Deborah Snyder and Wesley Coller for Stone Quarry. At the moment, the project currently has no official cast and release date yet.
