More Marvel actors could join Robert Downey Jr. in Avengers: Doomsday’s cast

Marvel Studios confirmed that additional actors beyond the 27 revealed so far will appear in Avengers: Doomsday. After the livestream announcement, Robert Downey Jr. commented: “That’s what u call a deep bench of talent… actually it’s more like a row, but an extra long one… That must be it… right?” Marvel’s official account replied, “There’s always room for more,” echoing reports from The Hollywood Reporter that more reveals are expected.

Production on the film has already begun, with the crew filming many scenes on interior sets to maintain secrecy. Notably absent from the confirmed lineup are major MCU actors, including Chris Evans, Tom Holland, Benedict Cumberbatch, Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Pratt, Mark Ruffalo, Ryan Reynolds, Jeremy Renner, and more.

Scarlett Johansson likely won’t return, as Marvel previously killed off her character in Endgame. Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch) didn’t appear in the announced lineup, and Marvel has yet to confirm any details about her involvement.

Marvel confirmed several original X-Men actors, including Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, Alan Cumming, and Kelsey Grammer. However, they did not list Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Famke Janssen, Anna Paquin, or Shawn Ashmore. Channing Tatum will appear after making his debut in Deadpool & Wolverine.

Marvel included Tenoch Huerta Mejía (Namor) in the cast despite past controversy, maintaining a working relationship with the actor. He denied the 2023 misconduct allegations, and no formal complaints followed. Marvel has not announced when it will reveal additional cast members.
