Avengers: Doomsday Cast Might Reveal MCU Death in Thunderbolts*

One of the stars of Thunderbolts* is noticeably missing from the Avengers: Doomsday cast.

On Wednesday, Marvel officially announced the cast of Avengers: Doomsday. A number of stars of Thunderbolts* will be appearing in the MCU ensemble film, including Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Wyatt Russell’s U.S. Agent/John Walker, Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, Lewis Pullman’s Bob/Sentry, David Harbour’s Alexei Shostakov / Red Guardian, and Hannah John-Kamen’s Ava Starr/Ghost.

Which Thunderbolts* star is missing from the Avengers: Doomsday cast?

Missing from that list is Olga Kurylenko, who is playing Antonia Dreykov/Taskmaster. Prior the the Avengers: Doomsday casting announcement, there were already rumors, theories, and speculation that Kurylenko’s character might not make it out of the MCU movie alive, given how little she’s shown in the promotional material that has been released thus far.

This is not an official confirmation that Taskmaster dies in Thunderbolts*, but it does give those fan theories some more weight.

Thunderbolts* is directed by Jake Schreier. The cast of the movie also includes Geraldine Viswanathan, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Chris Bauer, and Wendell Edward Pierce

“In Thunderbolts*, Marvel Studios assembles an unconventional team of antiheroes — Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, Red Guardian, Ghost, Taskmaster, and John Walker,” the synopsis for the movie reads. “After finding themselves ensnared in a death trap set by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, these disillusioned castoffs must embark on a dangerous mission that will force them to confront the darkest corners of their pasts. Will this dysfunctional group tear themselves apart, or find redemption and unite as something much more before it’s too late?”

Produced by Kevin Feige, Thunderbolts* will be released in United States theaters on May 2, 2025. Avengers: Doomsday arrives on May 1, 2026, while Avengers: Secret Wars then comes on May 7, 2027. Spider-Man 4 is being released between Doomsday and Secret Wars on July 31, 2026.
