Tenoch Huerta’s MCU Return Reopens Jonathan Majors Debate

Tenoch Huerta‘s casting in Avengers: Doomsday as Namor is causing some controversy.

On Wednesday, March 26, 2025, the official Marvel Entertainment YouTube page started a live video that is gradually announcing the cast of Avengers: Doomsday. So far, at the time of this article’s publication, the revealed cast includes Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, Wyatt Russell, Tenoch Huerta, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Simu Liu, and Florence Pugh.

Huerta played Namor in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which was released by Marvel Studios in 2022.

In 2023, Huerta was accused of sexual assault by Maria Elena Ríos. Huerta denied the allegations, via an article from The Los Angeles Times published in June 2023. There have been no other complaints or allegations that have been made since then.

What are people saying about Tenoch Huerta’s Namor being in Avengers: Doomsday?

With Huerta’s Namor being included in Avenger: Doomsday, some MCU fans are now upset. There’s been much comparison to the Jonathan Majors situation, as Majors was cast as Kang and was initially going to be the main antagonist of the fourth Avengers movie. Majors, however, was fired from his role after he was found guilty of second-degree harassment and misdemeanor assault of his ex, Grace Jabbari.

Here’s what people are saying about Tenoch Huerta Mejia being cast in Avengers: Doomsday:

Avengers: Doomsday is being directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, also known as the Russo Brothers. While Robert Downey Jr.’s name hasn’t shown up in the cast announcement video, it’s known that the former Iron Man actor is playing Doctor Doom/Victor von Doom in the movie.

Avengers: Doomsday will be released in United States theaters on May 1, 2026, from Marvel Studios. Avengers: Secret Wars follows on May 7, 2027, while Spider-Man 4 is currently scheduled to come out between those two movies on July 31, 2026.
