Will Poulter on if He’d Return as Adam Warlock in Avengers: Doomsday

While James Gunn’s exit from Marvel Studios after 2023’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 left the MCU future of many actors in the air, it seems that Will Poulter is eager to reprise his role as Adam Warlock in either Avengers: Doomsday or its subsequent sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars. The character last appeared in Guardians 3, and Marvel Studios has not shared any official word on his return as of yet. Despite the uncertainty surrounding Warlock’s fate in the MCU, Poulter has expressed that he is more than willing to step into the shoes of the cosmic being again, even if it happens without Gunn’s supervision.

In a recent discussion, The Maze Runner star noted that he would love to entertain the prospect of returning to the Marvel setup, provided that he receives a call-up.

While speaking with ComicBook.com, Will Poulter suggested that he would be open to coming back as Adam Warlock in either Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars. “Oh, dude, I’d love it. I had so much fun playing my character, and so, yeah, if they come calling, I’m definitely picking up,” the actor remarked.

Poulter’s Warlock first made his MCU debut back in 2017’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, where the character made a brief appearance in a post-credits sequence. In the comics, the artificially created individual plays a significant role in the Infinity Saga, even wielding the iconic Infinity Gauntlet on one occasion. Unfortunately for the character, the storyline never translated onto the big screens, casting a shadow of doubt on Warlock’s future in the franchise.

Nevertheless, the conclusion of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has left enough room for the unique character to return to the MCU in some capacity. Considering Will Poulter’s enthusiasm for taking on the mantle of Adam Warlock again, he could make an appearance in 2026’s Avengers: Doomsday. Regardless, this proposition continues to be mere speculation for now, due to Marvel’s decision to maintain complete silence on the topic.
