John Wick’s Age Finally Revealed, Here’s How Old He Is Compared to Keanu Reeves
Though the John Wick franchise is known for its detailed universe, fans have always been curious as to how old the title character is in each film. Featuring Keanu Reeves in the title role, the action franchise kicked off with its first movie in 2014. The original film shows a retired John Wick navigating a new path in life after leaving his job as an assassin. However, several traumatic events prompt the character to take up arms again.
Though the first movie confirmed that John Wick retired five years before the events seen in the film, it did not shed light on how old the character is. However, John Wick producer Basil Iwanyk recently revealed the character’s age.
John Wick is much younger compared to Keanu Reeves’ age
In a recent discussion with The Direct, Basil Iwanyk divulged the precise timeline of the four-film John Wick franchise and revealed the age of the titular character to be 52.
“The first three movies take place in like, two months.” He then added that the fourth film “takes place like eight months later when he’s recovering from his injuries,” meaning that the events of the whole series of films take place over only about a year of the main character’s life.
Interestingly, Keanu Reeves was 49 years of age in 2014, making him three years younger than the character he plays. Since then, the Canadian actor has outpaced his on-screen counterpart due to the closely packed timeline of the sequels.
The age dynamic could change in a fifth installment, which has yet to be officially greenlit. In a recent interview, Keanu Reeves suggested that he’s interested in reprising the role for another sequel by saying, “You can never say never,” to the prospect of another chapter in the series. Reeves will next be seen as the character in a cameo in the upcoming John Wick spin-off Ballerina, which features Ana de Armas in the lead role and takes place between the events of Chapter 3 and Chapter 4 of the John Wick franchise.
