Wicked Part 2 Gets New Title Change

The upcoming sequel to 2024’s Wicked, formerly known as Wicked Part Two, has been given a new title.

Wicked was released in United States theaters in November 2024. The first installment in a two-part film adaptation of the popular stage musical of the same name, the movie is directed by Jon M. Chu and stars Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba Thropp and Ariana Grande as Galinda/Glinda Upland.

The official Wicked X account has now announced a formal name change for the sequel, which will arrive in November 2025. Rather than being called Wicked Part Two, the movie’s title is now Wicked: For Good.

“For Good” is a duet song performed by Elphaba and Glinda near the end of the stage play — and, presumably, near the end of the forthcoming sequel. The song’s score and lyrics were both written by Stephen Schwartz.

What else do we know about Wicked: For Good?

Along with Erivo and Grande, Wicked: For Good stars Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero Tigelaar, Ethan Slater as Boq Woodsman, Bowen Yang as Pfannee, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, Marissa Bode as Nessarose Thropp, and Peter Dinklage as the voice of Dr. Dillamond.

Chu, who is also directing Wicked: For Good, recently told Entertainment Weekly that the Wicked sequel will largely be about “consequences.” He added, “There’s a lot of soul-searching in movie 2. They’re asking, ‘Is this the right decision that you made?’”

When speaking to Variety, Chu also hinted that Dorothy may be showing up in the sequel.

“In the show, Dorothy is around,” he explained. “They have to intersect, and you can only tease it so much. I won’t say whether she’s a character, necessarily, in movie two. There’s a part of me that wants everyone’s Dorothy to be whatever Dorothy they want. And yet, there is interaction and some crossover. So I’ll leave that up to Part Two.”

Wicked: For Good releases in United States theaters on November 1, 2025, from Universal Pictures.
