What is the Russo Brothers’ wedding sting movie about?
The Wedding Sting movie will be written by The Adam Project scribe Jonathan Tropper, who’s also currently working with Amazon MGM Studios on another Dave Bautista-led action movie Wrecking Crew. The film is actually inspired by a real life FBI sting, involving agents who pretend as a couple in order to infiltrate global criminal enterprises. The sting concluded after they staged a wedding in New Jersey, where the crime bosses were invited. After checking in for their table assignments, they were immediately arrested.
“The story will be refashioned into a mismatched partner story of two undercover FBI agents with radically different styles being forced to pretend to cohabitate. Initially, they detest one another. By the end they learn to respect each other as the case winds to a close,” reads the initial synopsis.
The project will be produced by The Russo Brothers for the AGBO alongside Anne Hathaway & Dave Bautista. This marks the production company’s latest collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios. They’re currently working together on its growing global spy thriller franchise Citadel, which has already produced Italian and Indian versions of the show.
