The first reactions to Sonic the Hedgehog 3 have finally arrived and critics are only lauding the movie and the star cast involved. With Sonic the Hedgehog 3 just a week away from its release, critics have given their first reviews for the movie. Following the UK premiere of the Jim Carrey film, here is what critics are saying in their first reactions to the movie.

In his review, the host of The Movie Podcast, Anthony Gagliardi called Sonic 3 “the best adventure in the franchise yet.” He praised Reeves’ Shadow and wrote, “Shadow is UNSTOPPABLE on the big screen, while Sonic and friends bring a lot of heart and laughs.”

In another review, James Lister of Get Your Comic On called the movie “the best video game adaptation to date.” Additionally, he commended the story of Sonic 3, highlighting that the film’s incorporation of action and emotional moments.

Tessa Smith, a Film and TV critic for Rotten Tomatoes, spoke about the comedy traits of the movie. “There’s something for Sonic fans of all ages, gamers & comic book readers. Every joke lands – there are a few for the parents in there too,” she wrote. Smith also shared that she “teared up & cheered at those end credit scenes.”

Gene Park of The Washington Post remarked that Sonic 3 has “a hilarious story.” Park also drew comparisons between the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise and the Dragon Ball franchise and wrote, “It’s the closest Hollywood has made to a dragon ball movie. There was plenty for a longtime fan to clap and cheer for.”

Following the massive success of the first two parts, fans are expecting Sonic the Hedgehog 3 to surpass its predecessors. The first movie earned around $319 million at the box office, whereas the second part made around $405 million as per Box Office Mojo.
