James Gunn Dispels Superman Reshoots Rumors
James Gunn has recently provided an update on the upcoming Superman movie clarifying whether they are doing reshoots or filming some new scenes. The movie features David Corenswet taking on the role of the Last Son of Krypton, aka Superman, after Henry Cavill. Additionally, Rachel Brosnahan has joined the cast as Clark Kent’s love interest Lois Lane.
James Gunn clarifies why Superman is undergoing additional shooting
James Gunn interacted with a fan recently on the social media platform Threads, where he gave an update on Superman. A user on the platform tagged Gunn in their post and shared a screenshot of a post that stated that Superman might go through some additional shoots in LA. The user asked Gunn if there was any truth about the post and the DC CEO was happy to clear the air around the film.
Replying to the user, Gunn stated that they are set to have some pickup shots and not full reshoots. He wrote, “Sort of. Not a few days. We’re doing a day and a half of pickup shots. No scenes. No reshoots. Just a handful of individual shots to enhance the film.” Pickup shots are minor shots that help enhance a frame more.
Superman is slated to release in July next year and the trailer is expected to drop soon. While talking to Josh Horowitz on his podcast Happy, Sad and Confused recently, Gunn also shared how Superman has elements from comic books. He said, “I don’t think we’ve ever seen the big science fiction Silver Age Superman aspects that we have in our movie. And we’ve never seen…you’ll see it when the movie comes out, but we’ve never seen this specific part of Superman’s life.”
