The Black Phone 2 Cast Adds Prom Dates Star Arianna Rivas

Arianna Rivas has joined the cast of The Black Phone 2.

The Black Phone 2 is a forthcoming sequel to 2021’s The Black Phone. Ethan Hawke reprises his role as The Grabber in the movie, while Mason Thames also returns as Finney.

Per Deadline, Rivas has now been tapped to play an undisclosed character in the sequel, which will be released in October 2025.

Rivas played a character named Lexi in 2024’s Prom Dates, which is now streaming on Hulu. She has also been cast in David Ayer’s next movie, titled Levon’s Trade, which is written by Sylvester Stallone and is based on the 2014 novel of the same name by Chuck Dixon. Jason Statham, David Harbour, and Michael Peña will also star in Levon’s Trade, which will be released in January 2025.

What else do we know about The Black Phone 2?

Plot details for The Black Phone 2 remain under wraps at this time. Along with Thames and Hawke, Jeremy Davies and Miguel Cazarez Mora are reprising their respective roles as Terrence and Robin. Demián Bichir has been cast in an unknown role.

Scott Derrickson, who directed the first movie, returns to helm The Black Phone 2. Derrickson wrote the screenplay with C. Robert Cargill, both of whom are also producing the movie alongside Jason Blum. Joe Hill, who wrote the 2004 short story that the first movie is based on, serves as an executive producer.

The synopsis for the first film reads, “Finney Shaw is a shy but clever 13-year-old boy who’s being held in a soundproof basement by a sadistic, masked killer. When a disconnected phone on the wall starts to ring, he soon discovers that he can hear the voices of the murderer’s previous victims — and they are dead set on making sure that what happened to them doesn’t happen to Finney.”

The Black Phone 2 releases in United States theaters on October 17, 2025, from Universal Pictures.
