Brave Cast Adds Amber Midthunder, Dallas Goldtooth, & More to Dramedy Movie

Prey breakout Amber Midthunder has officially been tapped to join the Brave cast for the upcoming comedy drama movie. Production is expected to begin around next summer on the Choctaw Nation Reservation in Oklahoma.

Following her breakout performance in the Predator prequel, Midthunder was last seen in the Avatar: The Last Airbender live-action series, where she played the recurring role of Princess Yue. She will next be seen in the action thriller Novocaine with Jack Quaid and in the horror movie Opus with Ayo Edebiri.

Who is in the Brave cast?

Besides Midthunder, Native American actors Dallas Goldtooth (Reservation Dogs, Echo), Wes Studi (The Last of the Mohicans), and Graham Greene (Dances With Wolves) have also been cast in the upcoming project. Goldtooth is set to play military vet Unckle Jack, while Greene will be Pops, Jack’s disapproving father. As for Studi and Midthunder, they are set for the respective roles of Ernie and Charlie, who are described as the mismatched partners of the local residential police force.

The film will be directed by Steven Paul Judd from a screenplay written by Judd and Ken Hendersen. It is produced by John Day and Zachary Starnes for Chaotic Neutral Pictures.

“Brave tells the story of Uncle Jack (Goldtooth), a 15-year military vet with substance abuse issues who now works as the entertainment in his local Native casino,” reads the synopsis (via THR). “At the funeral of his estranged brother, Jack meets Jillian, his young niece, now an orphan. Jillian is dying of liver cancer and her one wish is to find a suitable home for her dog, Carl. She sees Uncle Jack as a potential caretaker, even though Jack can barely care for himself. A liver transplant could save Jillian’s life and Jack is a match, but his years of alcohol abuse have made him unsuitable.”
