ComingSoon is debuting an exclusive Behind the Red Door trailer, previewing the rerelease of the 2003 drama starring Kyra Sedgwick and Kiefer Sutherland.
What happens in the Behind the Red Door trailer?
The trailer highlights the film’s story, which follows the story of a relationship between a sister and her brother, who is dealing with AIDS. The film’s VOD rerelease comes from Breaking Glass Pictures and is set to release on December 3, 2024.

Originally released in 2003, Behind the Red Door comes from director Matia Karrell, and is co-written by Karrell and C.W. Cressler. Alongside Sedgwick and Sutherland, the film also stars Stockard Channing, Chuck Shamata, Hannah Lochner, Corey Staden, Phillip Craig, Jason Carter, and Laura Press.
The film was initially broadcast on the Showtime network as part of the company’s then-multiyear deal with Viacom, and was shown to address HIV/AIDS issues. The movie’s reception was largely positive.
“Talented photographer Natalie struggles financially in NYC until her agent Julia lands her a $20,000 gig in Boston,” reads the official synopsis of the movie. “To her shock, she discovers her client is her estranged brother Roy, whom she hasn’t seen in a decade. Despite their rocky past, she stays for his birthday and learns he has AIDS. As they spend his final days together, their once-bitter relationship rekindles into a heartfelt bond, transforming old resentments into profound love.”
