The Watchers Release Date Moved Up by Warner Bros.

Warner Bros. has bumped up the release date for The Watchers.

Warner Bros. has announced that The Watchers, which is directed by Ishana Night Shyamalan, will now be released on June 7, 2024. The film was originally scheduled to hit United States theaters on June 14, 2024.

The Watchers now shares a release date with Bad Boys: Ride or Die and the Russell Crowe-led horror movie titled The Exorcism. Richard Linklater’s Hit Man, which stars Glen Powell, also begins streaming on Netflix the same day.

What is The Watchers about?

“The film follows Mina, a 28-year-old artist, who gets stranded in an expansive, untouched forest in western Ireland,” the official synopsis reads. “When Mina finds shelter, she unknowingly becomes trapped alongside three strangers who are watched and stalked by mysterious creatures each night. You can’t see them, but they see everything.”

Ishana Night Shyamalan, the daughter of M. Night Shyamalan, is making her feature film directorial debut with The Watchers. She also wrote the script for the movie, which is based on the 2022 novel of the same name by A.M. Shine.

Ishana Night Shyamalan previously served as the second unit director on 2021’s Old and 2023’s Knock at the Cabin, both of which were directed by her father. She also wrote and directed several episodes of Apple TV+’s Old.

The film stars Dakota Fanning (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, The Equalizer 3), Georgina Campbell (Barbarian), Oliver Finnegan (Outlander), and Olwen Fouere (The Northman, Texas Chainsaw Massacre). M. Night Shyamalan — who also has a movie coming out this summer, Trap, starring Josh Hartnett — produces the movie alongside Ashwin Rajan and Nimitt Mankad, while Jo Homewood and Stephen Dembitzer serve as executive producing.

The Watchers releases in United States theaters on June 7, 2024.
