Spider-Man 4 Video Reveals Why Sadie Sink Didn’t Don Jean Grey’s Classic X-Men Costume
New Spider-Man: Brand New Day behind-the-scenes footage offers more details about Sadie Sink‘s character, Jean Grey. The video also addresses why Sink’s Jean Grey doesn’t wear the classic X-Men costume.
In the YouTube video featuring Sink as Jean, costume designer Sanja Milković Hays explained, “From the X-Men history, we took the yellow and the green colors, but not making a superhero suit. It becomes reveal who actually she is and how dangerous she is.”
Meanwhile, her co-star Tom Holland said of Sink, “We were so lucky to have Sadie be a part of this movie. She is an absolute rockstar.” He added, “The way she brought Jean to life, we’ve never seen Jean Grey like this before.”

The featurette for Spider-Man 4 also highlights the cast as well as the physical demands behind the action. Director Destin Daniel Cretton said, “Sadie brings a beautiful combination of strength and vulnerability that is so electrifying.”
Offering a closer look at the film’s action sequences, choreographer Nathan Kim said, “In this movie, she is able to inhabit people’s minds. Only for the climax of the film, it needed to feel like she was being taken over and losing control of her own power and that it was being manipulated by outside forces. I was just blown away. I had, like, chills.”
Sink also discussed her role in the film, saying it felt “good to say that out loud” that she plays Jean Grey. “In this movie, she is able to inhabit people’s minds. This is the first introduction of the new X-Men team that we will get in the MCU. And I’m very excited,” Sink exclaimed.
Besides Sink and Holland, the film stars Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Mark Ruffalo, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, and Michael Mando.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be available to rent or buy digitally beginning October 6, 2026.
