Tom Cruise Reveals The Hardest Part Of His Digger Performance Wasn’t The Extreme Makeup

Tom Cruise has opened up about the most demanding part in Digger. Despite spending hours in makeup and performing while wearing the prosthetics, Cruise revealed that there was one aspect of the project that he found the most challenging.

Cruise completely changed his look for the movie, performing with facial prosthetics and a fat suit. However, as he revealed to Reuters, Cruise found his 10-minute monologue, which was filmed in a single take, the most challenging part of the movie.

Cruise embraced a radically different role for the latest chapter of his career

Digger Rockwell is not the kind of character that Tom Cruise usually plays. Fans know him for playing action heroes like Ethan Hunt, William Cage, and Pete Mitchell. A hallmark of his action movies is Cruise performing his own stunts in high-octane sequences.

However, his transformation into Rockwell required him to sit for six hours while makeup and prosthetics were applied. Cruise found that unacceptable and revealed that he cut that time down to under an hour. While tthis made the production schedule more efficient, it did not make performing any easier for the Eyes Wide Shut star.

Appearing on Travis and Jason Kelce’s New Heights podcast, Cruise revealed what performing under the prosthetics and the fat suit was like. He explained, “I’m sweating because I’m wearing these prosthetics. And the scenes, they’re long takes and the rhythm of it — you really have to know what you’re doing. But I’m sweating underneath, so I came up with all these different things, like cooling machines. “

Despite how different the role was from the characters Cruise typically plays, the Mission: Impossible star stated that it did not dampen his enthusiasm to learn new things. He said, “I want to make a lot of movies, and I love working with different directors. I love learning from them, seeing their stories, setting the table for them, giving them opportunities.”
