Lindsay Lohan Reunites With Mean Girls & Freaky Friday Director for New Movie With Henry Golding

Lindsay Lohan is reuniting with an old favorite. The actress is teaming up with Freaky Friday and Mean Girls director Mark Waters for a new Netflix romance feature. Lohan’s upcoming film will also see her sharing the screen with Henry Golding of Crazy Rich Asians fame in Return to You.

Netflix has announced that the film will take viewers back almost two decades, as its story is set in 2008. The film will follow Lohan as a “powerful but lonely” attorney who, mistakenly, receives a DVD sent by a dying woman meant for her husband. Lohan’s character then uses the clues present in the DVD to locate the husband, played by Golding.

The report also reveals that Lohan will also produce the feature, teaming up with Falling for Christmas and Irish Wish producer Brad Krevoy. Olivia Krevoy, Jimmy Townsend, and Galen Fletcher will executive produce the film. Netflix did not reveal any other cast members for the feature.

As for the creative team, Return to You will be written by Eric Champnella. The writer previously penned films such as Unstoppable, Alex & Me, Thunderstruck, and more. Waters previously worked with Netflix as director on films like He’s All That, Mother of the Bride, and La Dolce Villa.

Waters’ next film will be Hershey, a biographical drama about the making of the eponymous chocolate company. Lohan last starred in Freakier Friday and will be next seen as the lead in Hulu’s Count My Lies. The actress recently reprised the role of the twins she played in her debut feature, The Parent Trap, for a new ad. She also appeared in a cameo role in the Mean Girls TV show.

Golding was last seen in The Old Guard 2 and Nine Perfect Strangers.
