Heart of the Beast’s Release Gives Dog Lovers Clear Answer on if Odin Dies in Brad Pitt Movie

Heart of the Beast starring Brad Pitt has hit theaters, finally confirming whether Odin the dog dies in the film. Moviegoers worried about the German Shepherd finally have their answer.

Fans can rest assured that Odin does not die in Heart of the Beast. The movie opens with a flash-forward in which a young Native American woman finds Odin. So, right off the bat, the movie confirms that Odin survives.

Producer Richard Raymond had already revealed that Odin makes it out alive months before the movie’s September 25 release. In a June 11 X post, he shared, “Everybody loves a dog. It’s about the only thing the whole world agrees on. So let me put your mind at ease right now: the dog does not die. You’re welcome.”

What is Brad Pitt’s Heart of the Beast movie about?

Heart of the Beast is a survival thriller film directed by David Ayer. The movie stars Brad Pitt as retired Special Forces veteran James Belmont, who navigates the unforgiving Alaskan wilderness with only his traumatized military combat dog Odin as a companion.

Pitt recently shared his experience filming the heartfelt movie with his furry co-star while speaking at a press conference ahead of the movie’s premiere.

“We tried to make every day a play day for him,” the actor said (via Variety) of Uber, one of the German Shepherds who played Odin. “There were times he would do things that were just amazing that were not in the script that you see in the film, and his expressions still really move me.”

The Fight Club star added, “Being out there with this beautiful beast was pretty special… it was really kind of beautiful.”

The movie has received mostly positive reviews from critics. It currently holds an 88% Tomatometer score and a 96% Popcornmeter score on Rotten Tomatoes.

In addition to Pitt, Heart of the Beast stars J. K. Simmons as Watkins and Anna Lambe as Amber. Meanwhile, Uber, Seeka, Ryker, and Hondo play Odin the dog.
