Selena Gomez’s X-Rated Movie By Oscar Winner Recasts Its Lead Actress

A new actress has joined as the lead in Selena Gomez‘s new X-rated movie, directed by Oscar-winning Brady Corbet. The upcoming project is expected to have a runtime of nearly four hours.

Lily McInerny (Palm Trees and Power Lines) has reportedly replaced Sadie Soverall (Saltburn) in Corbet’s The Origin of the World, according to World of Reel. The update comes after McInerny was spotted on the film’s set with Michael Fassbender.

No official reason has been provided for Soverall’s exit from The Origin of the World.

As for McInerney, sources claim that she flew to Portugal to shoot her scenes. She was actually supposed to be at TIFF to promote her new movie, Magazine. But the actress wasn’t present at the event, which added to the reports of her involvement in Corbet’s project.

What else do we know about Selena Gomez’s new X-rated movie?

The Origin of the World will be a Western drama mystery, mostly set in the 1970s. It will explore American mysticism and the history of the occult in the country.

According to director Brady Corbet, the X-rated movie’s plot will span 150 years, from the 19th century to the present day. “The film is really, really genre-defying,” he said.

He also cleared up some doubts regarding online speculation about the story. Previously, the film was rumored to have elements of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. However, Corbet confirmed that such claims are “not true at all. That is just inaccurate. I think that the reason that was misconstrued is that I was talking about making a film that’s set in the 1970s.”

Besides Selena Gomez, McInerny, and Fassbender, the ensemble cast also includes Cate Blanchett and Joe Alwyn. The producers of the movie are Corbet, David Kaplan, Andrew Morrison, and Brian Young. Corbet and Mona Fastvold co-write the story.

The Origin of the World has yet to receive an official release date, but it is currently expected to arrive in 2027.
