Martin Scorsese Joins New Horror Movie Starring 007’s Eva Green, More Details Revealed

An upcoming horror movie, led by 007’s Eva Green, has added Martin Scorsese ahead of its TIFF World Premiere. The project comes from director Bahman Ghobadi (Turtles Can Fly, A Time for Drunken Horses).

Scorsese has joined Trees Are Watching as an executive producer ahead of its screening this Friday at the Toronto International Film Festival, Deadline reports.

It’s not the first time, however, that the American filmmaker has joined forces with the Iranian film director. They have previously collaborated as well. In 2012, Scorsese presented Ghobadi’s thriller/drama Rhino Season during its World Premiere at TIFF.

Martin Scorsese is currently working on his highly ambitious, upcoming movie What Happens at Night. It features Academy Award winners Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence in leading roles as a couple.

The story will follow their married characters as they travel to a strange European city to adopt a baby. However, the plot involves Lawrence’s character struggling with cancer and being very weak, while DiCaprio’s character is concerned that her condition may prevent the orphanage from releasing their child. The story will highlight the hardships in their married life as they seek to claim their baby.

Notably, What Happens at Night marks another addition in Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese’s long-running collaboration. They first worked together on 2002’s Gangs of New York.

The gothic psychological horror movie, based on a 2020 novel of the same name by Peter Cameron, is an Apple Original Film. The adaptation was originally announced back in 2023.

The upcoming project also marks Scorsese’s return to directing after his last movie, Killers of the Flower Moon. It was also led by DiCaprio, alongside Lily Gladstone, Robert De Niro, Jesse Plemons, and Brendan Fraser, among others.

What Happens at Night’s ensemble cast also features Patricia Clarkson, Jared Harris, Mads Mikkelsen, and Welker White.

The movie is expected to be released in late 2027.
