Ahead of Sydney Sweeney Movie, New Gundam Project Sets Release Date

The Gundam universe is expanding on the tabletop before its planned 2027 movie arrives. While Sydney Sweeney is attached to a separate live-action Gundam film planned for next year, Bandai Namco is preparing another release for fans in form of the Gundam Card Game’s Heavy Dominion starter deck.

Gundam: Heavy Dominion releases this month

Players will not have to wait long to get their hands on the new set. The Heavy Dominion [ST14] deck launches Sept. 25, 2026, marking the 14th starter release in the trading card game. Bandai Namco has also revealed 16 cards from the collection, giving fans a preview of what the green-and-white deck brings to the table (via ScreenRant).

The set centers on the Full Armor Unicorn Gundam and puts the spotlight on heavily armored units. Its lineup includes The O, Gundam NT-1 and G-Falcon DX, alongside pilots such as Paptimus Scirocco and Banagher Links. Bandai Namco says the starter can handle traditional one-on-one matches as well as games involving more players.

Heavy Dominion also arrives ready for immediate play. The $15.99 package includes a 50-card prebuilt deck, 10 Resource Cards, two Token Cards, a paper Damage Counter, a Rule/Playsheet and a Bonus Pack. That means newcomers do not need to buy a core set before trying the game with another player who owns a deck.

Availability could become the bigger challenge. The starter carries a $15.99 retail price, but regional shortages have already pushed some Gundam Card Game products much higher. In parts of the United States, similar starter decks can sell for at least twice their retail price on trading card markets.

Since its mid-July launch, the card game has started making waves across multiple markets, with some local retailers already listing it among their most-played tabletop titles. The new starter deck builds on that early momentum while expanding a franchise with roots stretching back to Mobile Suit Gundam in 1979. What began as an anime series has since ballooned into films, video games and a sprawling multimedia universe.
