Vin Diesel shared new photos of himself as Kaulder from The Last Witch Hunter on Instagram on Wednesday. The actor’s carousel post features him in full costume alongside wolves and wielding a sword. The post has already garnered over 100,000 likes and 603 comments from fans within hours of going live.
Lionsgate confirmed the sequel in September 2025, with both Diesel and Michael Caine set to reprise their roles, per Deadline. Caine is expected to come out of retirement to return as the 36th Dolan, a priest who assists Kaulder on his mission. Diesel confirmed the sequel’s title as The Lion’s Oath and a 2026 release window in an October 2025 Instagram post.
In December 2025, Diesel shared images of the sequel’s script on Instagram, revealing its full title as Kaulder the Immortal – The Lion’s Oath, as reported by MovieWeb. The script’s opening page featured a tagline reading, “Some debts take centuries to pay.” The first page also showed Diesel’s Kaulder in conversation with “Young Dolan,” hinting at a possible de-aging sequence for Caine.
Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Adam Fogelson credited the film’s streaming popularity for the sequel’s greenlight. The original 2015 film has grown into a global fan favorite, with audiences continuing to discover it across platforms over the past decade. The first film earned a 17% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes and grossed $146 million against a $90 million budget.
The original film starred Diesel as Kaulder, an immortal knight based on his own longtime Dungeons & Dragons character. Diesel is also working on sequels for the Fast and Furious, Riddick, and xXx franchises simultaneously.
Lionsgate has not yet announced a specific release date for The Lion’s Oath.
